Happy New Year! What an incredible year it was for us. We turned in 125 performances, give or take. We got to meet and perform with wonderful musicians including Acoustic Syndicate, The Recipe, and Wil Seabrook, who recently signed with Maverick Records. Over 400 of you subscribed to our mailing list! sjBand dot com has enjoyed thousands of hits since its launch in February of 2001. Jazz guitarist Tony Eltora and bassist Steve Clamp joined the group. Thanks to the love and support of family, friends and fans, we entered and are currently in the studio with percussionist and drummer Phill Kirby of Good Foot, James Little of L&N Productions and Nathan Pritchard, working on our first indie release. We’re always very fortunate to have Phill when he’s not out and about with his partner Scoot. Thanks, Scoot! We reappeared on WHKY’s First Talk with Hal Row. Hal was kind enough to host our audition for VH1’s Cover Wars. We said goodbye to our dear friend and trusty sound guy, Daniel LeVesque, who moved back home to Virginia. To make a long story longer, it was a year we won’t forget!

Turning our attention to 2002, my incredible wife and I are expecting our first born on February 15! Rick Cline of the Lenoir-Rhyne Percussion Program enters the picture and has been kind enough to work with Tony, Steve and I. Rick, Carol Anne and I have worked together on a variety of musicals together including Damn Yankees! and A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum. Charles Smith of the Western Piedmont Symphony Orchestra has also been kind enough to volunteer his time and talent. It’s only a matter of time before we wrap up and release the CD. You’ll hear a new body of work from us in 2002 including “September Song,” “Epiphany,” “The Blues,” “Golden Arrow,” “Purple Monkeys,” “Fool,” “Nerl,” and “Hey Love” to name a few. We may appear a time or two again as “Jeff.” That’s still way up in the air. Reason being, there are those who think “Scott Jeffrey’s Band” sounds way too much like “Dave Matthews Band.” I want to avoid associations, hints and allegations like that if at all possible as impossible and or flattering as that may be. Feel free to let us know what you think! We’re all excited about what 2002 holds for us. On behalf of the band, thanks for all your support!
