Remember me with laughter.James Best “When words fail…” I’m not good at these things. The impact James Best had on me is incalculable. Jimmy blessed me with his love, friendship and 30 years of inspiration. My heart breaks for Dorothy …
You were the Clash to my Titan, the G to my Joe, and the Duke to my Hazzard. You were more than my cousin. You were my best friend and the closest thing I had to a brother (before I had a brother). You were kind enough to let me pick on you and beat you up every now and then. Now that you’re bigger than me, I hope you don’t remember those times the way I do. As a matter of fact, forget I mentioned it.
We’ve seen every horror film, together. You witnessed my first kiss. You tried to drown me, once, but it’s all good. We’d camp in the backyard. We never made it through the night and ended up on the couch, but what’s the difference? We helped each other decide which flying car we wanted when we were old enough to drive. We bathed with one another. Well, you get the point.
I could go on and on about the things I and you shared and experienced for the first time, growing up. I’m sorry to say we couldn’t experience more together as we got older. But I’d love it if you would stand by me as one of my groomsmen at my wedding on September 9.
